Thoughts of Spring Blog Party!

What can I say? I love these kind of things. :-D And since I still don't know how to upload pictures to my blog (yet!), I may as well have a little fun in the meantime.
This Blog Party is hosted by Lynnette Kraft of Dancing Barefoot on Weathered Ground. I found her blog via Kellie's, actually. Several other bloggers I follow have been doing this little survey, so methought I'd join in, too. And like many other blog parties, there are loverly giveaway prizes! The Blog Party ends at midnight tonight, so if you want to join, do it quick!
So, here we go....
How would people describe your personality? (If they could only use ONE word.) Are they right? Actually, I'm not sure. Mom says people call me “sweet” and “beautiful”...but they probably wouldn't say that if they could live inside my head for a day! I think of myself as quirky and cynical...but then, one is always one's worst critic, wot?
What is your comfort food/drink? Food: Either meat-lover's pizza, manicotti or fettuccine Alfredo. Drink: Cranberry juice with a splash of Fresca or Sprite, or good ol' ROOT BEER!
Be brave – tell us something very random and weird about yourself. I organize my clothes in order of color, according to the colors of the rainbow: Pink, red, green, turquoise, blue, purple (I don't wear orange or yellow).
Do you have a strong desire to do something you’ve never done? What is it? Either attend a Renaissance Faire/Celtic Festival in costume with a few friends as geeky as I am (and perhaps perform some period songs or what-not), or build a couple dozen or so miniature room-boxes the way I want, PROPERLY. Or both. ;-)
Movies: Action, Drama, Romantic Comedy, Documentary, Comedy? What are your favorite genres? I guess drama, comedy and some romantic comedy (so long as it's not too sappy :-P) are about my favorites. Some action, too, so long as it's not too violent.
Books: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Romance, Biographies, True Stories, Self-Help, Devotional/Study? What are your favorite types of reading material? Mostly fiction, fantasy (although I'm super picky about that—fantasy can get “dark” and downright evil all too easily) and craft books, although there are a few non-fiction books I like.
Music: Funk, Rock, Country, Jazz, Classical, Film Score, Blues, Classic Rock, Crooner, Alternative, Heavy Metal, Techno? What are your favorite types? Baroque, Romantic, Classical, Irish jigs and reels (and the slower, “haunting” melodies), English folk songs and country dances, Medieval/Renaissance, some jazz, ragtime and bluegrass/“barn-dance music” (although I wouldn't make a steady diet of them).
If you inherited a million dollars, what is the first thing you would do with your money? Like Kellie said, probably give a good chunk of it to >dear< old Uncle Sam. :-P Then, after skimming off 10% for the Lord (probably send it to some missionaries we know), I'd divide it equally among Mom, Bro and meself. Mwahaha.
Name one weakness of yours (confession is good for the soul). Oh my—just one? Probably either laziness or anger. Ugh.
If you could live anywhere at all (and take all your loved ones with you), where would you go? A five- or ten-acre meadow surrounded by deep woods, with clumps of trees scattered here and there among the rolling hillocks, with a stream running through it into a duck pond with a stone bridge across it. And in the center of this idyllic parcel would sit our house—but I described that in Kellie's Blog Party. :-)
Strange Talent? Can you juggle basketballs, put your legs behind your head or perform some other strange feat? Ummm...I can peel oranges better with my left hand than my right, even though I'm right-handed.
What’s something you consider yourself to be good at? (Don’t worry, it’s not bragging, it’s acknowledging a God given gift). Designing my own clothes and adapting patterns to (mostly) fit the design.
What is one of your favorite things to catch a whiff of? Roses! Or Italian food. :-D [EDIT] And violets! How could I have forgotten violets?!
When you leave a social gathering, do you wish: You would have talked more or you would have talked less? It depends on how high on adrenaline I was at the time. :-P Sometimes I babble on like a schoolgirl with a head full of whipped cream; other times I stand quietly in the background like a perfect idiot. <_<
If money wasn’t a factor, what stores would you shop in? For me, it's more a matter of what items would I buy. In that case, I'd get a bunch of stones for my interchangeable pendant (once it's finished, that is), and materials for miniature room-boxes (including furniture and accessories and what-not). Also, I'd “adopt” a bunch of broken antique doll-parts (like you see all over Etsy), clean them up and put them on jointed polymer clay bodies and make real dolls out of them, poor things.
What is your greatest fear or strange phobia? “Anything with wings, that stings!” Or is related to the same. Bees, hornets, wasps, yellow-jackets, carpenter bees—ugh! I won't go anywhere near a place if even one of those stinging devils is about. I freak out when one comes near me. (Mind you, carpenter bees don't sting, but they're big and ugly, and they buzz you). I don't mind bumblebees, but the others are evil incarnate! Them, and rats! >Shudder< [EDIT] I also have a horror of germs and getting dirty. Sissy! :-P
What is your greatest accomplishment? I don't think I've achieved it yet....
What are your favorite animals? Kitties! :-D And their wild cousins—tigers, panthers, leopards, ounces (snow leopards), ocelots, jaguars, lions. Certain breeds of dogs, too.
And mythical animals like unicorns, winged horses, griffins and phoenixes.

Are you a hopeless romantic? Oh, yes.
What movie or book character can you most relate to? Either Éowyn (Lord of the Rings) or Jo March (Little Women) because I'm still trying to figure out my life and find God's purpose for me. [EDIT] Although it's come to my attention of late that I'm a lot like Beth March in that I'm a homebody and wish people I love would stick around instead of gallivanting all over Creation and leaving me all alone. :-( "Why does everyone want to go away? I love being home
but I don't like being left behind." (From the Winona Rider movie version of Little Women.)
Until next time, Gentle Readers
God bless,
~“Tom”~

  2. Oh, a Renaissance Faire/Celtic Festival sounds delightful! May I come? =)

I love sorting clothes by color, and if I had room I would, too - as it is, all of the clothes I own are squeezed in a rubbermaid container;)

  3. Natasha--Hee! What fun! Makes it easier to see how many reds and purples are in the closet that way, wot? :-P

Kellie--Of course you can come! And Natasha, too, if she wants. We could dress up as Scottish lassies and sing some old Scottish ballads.... :-D

Dear me! Perhaps part of my inherited million should go towards getting you a wardrobe (the kind with a mirror on the door)! ;-)

  4. Hi nice to meet you. We have the same weaknesses. I am noticing I have lots of weaknesses, when I read everyone elses. Always something to work on. Loved too, that you would split the money three ways.

  5. Hark, the flat truth - "Uncle Sam" probably would be wanting a fair (or unfair, depending on how you use the term) piece of that million!

  6. So... I just commented on here, and then I think my comment didn't actually post. I can't see it, anyhow.

I found your blog on the link up to the Thoughts of Spring blog party and I thought it was cool/strange how similar our blog titles are!

I'm so with you on the fantasy thing. I hate how they tend to get dark and creepy instead of light-hearted and fun. Have you read anything by Cameron Dokey? I don't like all of her books, but some of them are *awesome*. She redoes fairy tales.

Anyhow... I'm going to go look around your lovely blog some more. =D

  7. Amy--Nice to meet you, too! Hee, they're probably common weaknesses--we're all a bit rough around the edges. Thankfully, God is in the business of smoothing us out!

TW--"Fair" to Uncle Sam, "unfair" to whomever he's taking the aforementioned "piece" from! Oy.

Emily--Yes, that is interesting. Well, you know what they say: "Great minds think alike"! :-)
I don't think I've heard of her--unless she wrote "Shadow of the Bear," which is a retelling of "Snow White and Rose Red" in a modern setting. A friend lent it to me some years back.
    Thanks for stopping by!
