Some time back (like, several years ago now, eek),
my friend Miss Melody Muffin, took part in this challenge, and as it’s
been on my mind of late, methough I’d do it, too.
Toady’s
challenge is to share my favorite song.
Ugh, only one??
*Ponders*
I’m going to
give that honor to “Be Thou My Vision,” one of my favorite hymns, and this
beautiful arrangement in particular:
(This group is
usually more contemporary/pop than I prefer, but this song is pretty good. The
“heavy breathing” in the middle is a bit…odd…but I love the Celtic feel of the
accompaniment.)
There’s a verse
to this song that I found on another blog (back in my Xanga days), which isn’t
in any hymnal that I’ve seen, but is such an awesome picture of spiritual
warfare and God’s protection:
Be Thou my
battle-shield,
Sword for the
fight;
Be Thou my
Dignity,
Thou my
Delight.
Thou my soul’s
Shelter,
Thou my High
Tower.
Raise Thou me
Heavenward,
O Power of my
power!
