The
reason I skipped yesterday’s challenge (Song that Reminds You of
Somewhere) is because I kept drawing a blank. Apparently, my brain
doesn’t associate music with places. *Shrug*
So,
on to a song that reminds me of an event—namely, the Nevada County
Fair...ooh...over a decade ago. My brother and three of his friends
had formed a Barbershop Quartet over the Summer and decided to enter
the Barbershop contest at the Fair that year, just for fun. One of
the other quartets sang “Please, Mr. Colombus,” which I thought
was a hoot (and which they hammed up better than the fellows in this
video).
Interestingly,
up until that time, I wasn’t that fond of the name Isabella, but
after hearing this song, suddenly it became one of my
favorites...which is why one of my Characters bears that name.

And a proper name for a queen, it is, too! <3
Anton.
’Bye.

And
for the record, out of eleven Barbershop Quartets in the competition,
Bro’s group won fourth place! They got the highest marks in
musicality—I think—and one of the judges said they’d have
placed higher if they’d had costumes and choreography, as the
ranking was based mostly on showmanship. But hey! Their first
competition, and fourth place! I’m still pretty proud of them. 😊
